Queen's Quarter is one of the most vibrant districts in Belfast, and is also the heart of our student community.
In between or after lectures, you can go for a walk through the tranquil Botanic gardens right next door to campus, marvel at some of the best Irish art in the Ulster Museum, take in an art-house movie at the QFT, relax in one of the many cool coffee shops or enjoy stand-up comedy at The Empire.

For those with a penchant for nostalgia and sustainability, the area surrounding the university boasts an eclectic mix of vintage and charity shops, offering pre-loved clothing gems.
The area also has great spots for hunting for vintage vinyl records, second-hand books, and quirky home decor for your student accommodation. If you're a bookworm, don't forget to stop by the independent bookstore No Alibis (they offer student discount!).
Further from campus is the Lisburn Road, which has a great mix of charity shops and higher-end labels.
Exploring Local Culture and Art
You can dive right into the local arts and culture scene while studying at Queen's, from captivating galleries such as the Naughton Gallery and the Ulster Museum, to the nearby cinematic gem known as the QFT (Queen's Film Theatre), they're all within a short walk from the Lanyon Building and can be a great way to fill gaps in your day or spend an evening after class.

Keep an eye out for the events hosted in our bar in One Elmwood, with great student offers and student-led events, it's a great way to unwind and connect with other students at Queen's!
