Overview
The aim of this scheme is to encourage outstanding students from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to cross the border to undertake postgraduate study and experience life in the other Irish jurisdiction.
Further Information
Universities Ireland, the body which promotes collaboration between universities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, is offering four scholarships to students who meet the eligibility requirements detailed below and who have been accepted to undertake a recognised Master's degree or are entering the first year of a PhD programme at a university on the island of Ireland. The aim of this scheme is to encourage outstanding students from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to cross the border to undertake postgraduate study and experience life in the other Irish jurisdiction. If you have already successfully completed an Undergraduate degree at a university in one Irish jurisdiction and have either successfully completed a Master's degree (or will have completed a Master's in 2021) at a university in the other Irish jurisdiction, you are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for these scholarships.

Funding Amount
Masters Scholarship is worth €15,000 and PhD Bursary is worth €13,000.
These scholarships are worth €15,000 each. Scholarship winners from the Republic of Ireland will be paid in Euro whilst winners from Northern Ireland will be paid in the Sterling equivalent as converted on the day the cheques are issued. These scholarships must be taken up for the academic year 2021-2022.

How to Apply
Application forms are available on the Universities Ireland website at http://universitiesireland.ie/northsouth-postgraduate-scholarships/ Please refer to the Guidance Notes for Applicants and further information about the required essay prior to completing a scholarship application form. Shortlisting will be based on the essay. Decisions will be taken solely on the basis of the written application and essay. There will be no interviews. Shortlisting will take place in May, and the successful applicants will be informed of the panel’s decision in June. Completed application form and accompanying essay must be submitted online OR to Tricia Kelly at tricia.kelly@qub.ac.uk before 4pm on Thursday 13 May 2021. Hand-written applications are not acceptable. Candidates must ensure they have appliedfor a place of admission at Queen’s University in advance of applying for the scholarship.
