Overview

This award is being offered in memory of our esteemed and much missed colleague Ashish Vats and is to support a postgraduate student from India who otherwise would not be able to study at Queen’s due to financial limitations.

The Scholarship will cover international tuition fees for a taught masters in MSc Educational Leadership.

One scholarship will be awarded for 2025/26.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Eligible students must be unable to study abroad through the finances of their immediate family.
  2. Applicants should not have previously studied outside India.
  3. Eligible students should hold Indian nationality and be normally resident in India.
  4. Students must hold an offer for a place on the full-time MSc Educational Leadership starting in the academic year 2025/26 at the Queen’s University Belfast campus which has been confirmed as their FIRM choice, and prior to commencement of study have met any academic and language conditions attached to their offer as stated in their offer letter.
  5. Students must be classified as international fee-paying students paying the international tuition fee rate in order to be considered for this award. Students paying NI/GB/ROI or EU fees are not eligible for the Ashish Vats Memorial Scholarship
  6. The scholarship will provide tuition fees for a one year taught Masters Programme, namely MSc Educational Leadership. The scholarship may not be used for any other programme.
  7. To be eligible for the scholarship applicants must complete the online application form and provide all mandatory supporting documents within the deadline.
  8. The deadline for the Ashish Vats Memorial Scholarship is Thursday 05 June 2025 at 15:00 BST. Only those applications made within the deadline will be considered.
  9. The Ashish Vats Memorial Scholarship awarded is for entry to Queen’s University Belfast on the full-time MSc Educational Leadership in the autumn semester of the academic year 2025/26 and cannot be used for 2026/27 entry or any other year.
  10. If you wish to defer your entry to the University your scholarship will not be transferred.
  11. If you are in receipt of funding (either tuition fees or tuition fees and living costs) from an external sponsorship body such as Government, a charity or a private organisation you will not be eligible for the Scholarship.
  12. Students must request authorisation from the International Office before making any changes to their programme of study. Where changes are made without authorisation being granted, the scholarship may be withdrawn and students may be required to repay the scholarship in full.
  13. Applicants may apply and/or be considered for more than one tuition fee award administered by Queen’s University Belfast but if successful would receive only the highest value award with the lower value award cancelled or allocated to another applicant
  14. In the event that a student has received scholarship offers for a number of different programmes at Queen’s University, they will only be able to redeem one scholarship award. This will be the scholarship award for the course onto which they enrol in the 2025/26 academic year.
  15. The Ashish Vats Memorial Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other University scholarship.
  16. The University is unable to consider requests for increased and/or further funding. The amount of scholarship offered is non-negotiable.
