- How do I apply for International Office Scholarships?
No application is required for the International Office Postgraduate Taught Scholarship. We will automatically assess your application and if you are eligible, we will issue confirmation of your award shortly after you've received your offer.
Contact us at internationalscholarships@qub.ac.uk quoting your name and application reference if you haven't received confirmation.
All other awards require you to make an application, but you should only do this after you have been offered a place to study on your chosen programme.

What is the INTO Progressor's Scholarship?
The INTO Progressor's Scholarship is a discount of £1500 from your tuition fees for new international students who have an unconditional offer and pay tuition fees in full* by the specified deadline.
*Deduct the INTO Progressor's Scholarship and any other scholarship which has been confirmed by the International Office
- How do I qualify for the INTO Progressor's Scholarship?
You must comply with all the following conditions by the appropriate deadline:
- Be a new student enrolling at Queen's University Belfast for the first time,
- Have an unconditional offer.
- Pay your tuition fees in full after deducting the INTO Progressor's Scholarship and any other scholarship which has been confirmed by the International Office.
Please note:
Students who are required to successfully complete a Pre-Sessional English programme at QUB INTO in order to satisfy the English language condition of their offer, are NOT eligible for the INTO Progressors Scholarship.
Students who are studying Academic English are NOT eligible for the INTO Progressors Scholarship.

- Is there a deadline for the INTO Progressor's Scholarship?
The following deadlines apply:
- Postgraduate students must pay their full* Year 1 tuition fees by 15 September 2023 to avail of the discount, subject to meeting our Terms & Conditions*This is to prevent delays in CAS issuance during the peak period.
*Full tuition fees are your full tuition fee rate as given on your offer letter less the INTO Progressor's Scholarship and any other scholarship which has been confirmed by the International Office

How do I apply for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?
You must have received an offer of a place to study an eligible postgraduate taught programme at the University which you have firmly accepted, completed the online application form and submitted a short video by the deadline of Friday 10 May 2024 at 15:00 BST.

Applicants to any other postgraduate taught programme are not eligible for consideration.
Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship - Postgraduate Taught - applications open for September 2024 entry.
- Can I send supporting documents to support my application?
Please do not send references, academic transcripts or any form of supporting documentation with your scholarship application.
Any documents will be deleted and will not be taken into consideration by the panel.
Your application should consist of your online application form and video submission.
- What is the value of the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?
The Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship will provide 50% of the cost of tuition fees and is awarded each year up to a maximum of two years.
- How many awards are there?
The Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship offers:
4 awards for postgraduate taught students
- Are there any guidance notes to help with my video?
Your video should outline why you want to come and study at Queen's University Belfast and how you believe your programme of choice will benefit you in your future career aspirations. Please keep to the subject matter, we do not require a list of your academic achievements.
Guidelines
Please ensure that your video can be opened and viewed by us using VLC media player. VLC media player supports many video file formats, and we would recommend MP4.
We would suggest using the WeTransfer programme to send your video and would ask that you test it to ensure that it can be opened, before sending. Applications submitted via YouTube will not be considered.
The criteria are not for high-quality video productions, you will be judged on the content and the quality of presentation skills only.
- Please ensure that your video is clearly audible.
- If we cannot open your video your submission will not be accepted.
- Please ensure that you clearly identify your submission by including your Queen's University Belfast application reference and your full name on the email which accompanies your video.
- Any videos that exceed the requested length of 2 minutes will NOT be considered.

What is the deadline for applications for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship for postgraduate taught studies?
For postgraduate taught applicants the deadline for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship is Friday 10 May 2024 at 15:00 BST.
You must have submitted your video, online application and firmly accepted your offer by this deadline.
Please ensure you leave adequate time to submit your video as these can take some time to forward during busy periods. If we receive your video after the deadline, it will not be considered.
If you have not firmly accepted your offer by the deadline your application for the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship will not be considered.
- How will I know I've been awarded the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship?
This is a competitive process and not all applications will be successful.
A panel of academics from all 3 faculties sit in July to determine which applications are successful.
We contact the successful candidates by telephone in the first instance.
Please be aware we contact only the successful candidates. If you have not been contacted by the end of July you may assume you have been unsuccessful.
Which scholarships are available for PGR?

I am a POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH applicant - which scholarships are available to me?
Queen's Loyalty Scholarship, for Queen’s University alumni - Application required. Applicants must have successfully completed the full duration of their previous programme with Queen’s University Belfast.
Queen's Family Scholarship, for children, grandchildren or siblings of current Queen’s University Belfast students or Queen’s University Belfast Alumni - Application required. The scholarship may only be claimed by students whose grandparent, parent or sibling is currently pursuing, or has already completed, a full duration* undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Queen's University Belfast. (*All years of programme must be completed at Queen’s University Belfast).
Early Confirmation Award, for unconditional offer holders paying tuition fees in full not later than 90 days before the start date given in their offer letter. Where eligible this can be combined with another International Office administered scholarship to increase the value of your award.

Do you have any full fee scholarships?
We do not offer full fee scholarships but for exceptionally talented postgraduate taught applicants we offer the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship.
This awards a 50% reduction in tuition fees for all years of the programme.

All awards are offered subject to applicants meeting the terms and conditions.
- When will I receive my scholarship?
All International Office scholarships are awarded as a discount on tuition fees.
This will be credited to your tuition fee account following enrolment.
No cash alternative is available.
- Can I use my International Office scholarship as my deposit?
International Office scholarships cannot be used in lieu of any required deposit and no cash alternative is available.
- Do I need to provide evidence of my qualifications or references to access International Office Scholarships?
Where you are required to make an online application, academic or professional achievements will not be considered. Any documents, certificates or references attached to any application will be disregarded and deleted.
All applications are assessed on their individual merits and are considered equally.
- When can I apply for International Office Scholarships?
Applicants can only apply and be considered for International Office Scholarships after they have been offered a place to study on their chosen eligible programme.
Where you are required to make an online application, this cannot be considered in advance of you receiving an offer of a place to study your chosen programme.
You will be automatically assessed for the International Office Postgraduate Taught Scholarship or any applicable Queen's Business School Scholarship - no application is needed.

My tuition fees are being paid by a sponsor. Will I be awarded a scholarship from the International Office?
If your fees are being paid by a sponsor, this could include your government or a charitable organisation, you are not eligible for International Office scholarships. Only self-funded international students paying the full international tuition fee rate are eligible for International Office scholarships.
- I am funding my studies with an educational loan. Will I be awarded a scholarship from the International Office?
Applicants funding their studies with educational loans are considered to be self-funded and are eligible to receive International Office scholarships, subject to meeting terms and conditions.
- I have been awarded a scholarship from the Faculty I will be studying with or another part of Queen's University Belfast. Can I use this with my International Office scholarship?
You may apply and/or be considered for more than one award administered by Queen’s University Belfast but if successful would receive only the highest value award with the lower value award cancelled or allocated to another applicant.
- Are there any scholarships available from the International Office for the second or subsequent year of my programme?
International Office scholarships are available to new students and are paid for your first year of study only.
All scholarships are for your first year of study only with the exception of the Vice Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship which is paid for all years of your programme up to a maximum of 2 years.

I am a domestic student from Northern Ireland or United Kingdom can I get a scholarship from the International Office?
Only international students paying the full international tuition fee rate are eligible for International Office scholarships.
