Special Projects

As well as taking core subject areas within the School of Natural and Built Environment, Study Abroad Students are also able to select a 'Special Project'. Students can earn 20 CATS credits by conducting independent research (EPS 3001) within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, choosing a topic with their Queen’s and possibly home institution supervisors. They can also take two additional courses from the university. The Civic Engagement Research Project (EPS 3003) offers a six-week pro bono research project with a not-for-profit or government entity in Belfast, providing valuable practical experience for careers in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, and International Development.
