We're pleased to announce that Professor Gianluca Sarri has been awarded the KAW Legacy Award, an important recognition in the field of plasma and nuclear fusion research.
Named after Professor Predhinam Kaw of Princeton, this award was established in 2019.
Supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), InnovateUK, and the European Research Council, Professor Sarri's research has earned him recognition among global leaders in this area, alongside previous awardees from Princeton University, Osaka University, and the University of Pisa.
"I am honoured and flattered to receive such a prestigious international award, in memory of one of the trailblazers in plasma physics and nuclear fusion. It is incredible to feature among other great physicists that received the prize before me, and it is a great motivational boost to keep up the hard work". - Professor Gianluca Sarri
Receiving the KAW Legacy Award reflects Professor Sarri's contributions and underscores the academic excellence of the School of Maths and Physics. This honour includes a gold plaque, a cash prize of $5,000, and the privilege of delivering a memorial lecture in honour of Professor Kaw in May 2024.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Sarri on this achievement!
