The Enhanced Postgraduate Skills – Doctoral Training Programme (EPS DTP) is an innovative initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of researchers and leaders in their respective fields.
Spanning four distinguished schools and in collaboration with a network of industry partners, this programme seeks to attract highly motivated and qualified students for impactful doctoral research.
Launching in September 2025, the EPS DTP will equip participants with the advanced skills and interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic research landscape.

We are offering a limited number of exclusive projects, co-created with our industry partners.
These projects cover a range of research areas including:
- Mechanical Engineering,
- Physics,
- Chemistry and Chemical engineering
- Electrical engineering
Each project tackles real-world industrial challenges and opportunities, ensuring research closely aligns with industry needs.PhD researchers will benefit from direct financial contributions from our industry partners, along with mentorship from experienced professionals, giving valuable insight and guidance.
The EPS DTP offers a fully funded PhD place (fees, stipend and research training support grant) for 3.5 years.
Our enhanced stipend will see our students receive an additional 5k on top of their current standard stipend (current rate for 24-25 £19,237). In addition to this, we are also offering a £5000 per year Research training support grant for project mobility and equipment.
This scheme is open to UK students only.
Candidates should hold or expect to gain a first-class degree or a good 2.1 (or equivalent) in their related subject.
