ABOUT PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Public Engagement identifies, facilitates and delivers a series of programmes and activities to showcase FMHLS research, ultimately increasing the ‘Science Capital’ and STEM aspiration of public audiences.
The Faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Sciences presents a prolific presence annually at the Northern Ireland Science Festival, from centre-specific open days and lab tours to research presentations and immersive visitor attraction experiences.
Within FMHLS, many of our researchers are involved in debating key public health issues and we deliver major public facing events focusing on significant societal issues.
In conjunction with the Pint of Science Festival and Fight for Sight, Queen’s eye researchers enlightened the public on the advances in Ophthalmology research over a pint, proceeds from ticket sales went to Fight For Sight.
Twelve inspiring female scientists from Queen’s took to their soapboxes to showcase their ground-breaking research. Research included topics from technology, science, medicine and engineering.
