What to expect
To get a feel for what it's like to be a student at Queen's University Belfast, we host open days twice a year (June and September) that are designed to give you the best opportunity to explore our campus, find out more about the course you're interested in, meet current staff and students, attend information sessions and more.
Here's what you can expect on your visit to Queen's.
Our guided tours on open days are separated into campus and subject tours which are a great opportunity to explore campus life and the unique spaces and facilities for your chosen subject.
You can visit our main Lanyon Building, the McClay Library, sports facilities, as well as food and drink locations on campus. You will also be able to explore what we offer for the subject(s) you're considering, whether that's the Computer Science building, Sonic Arts Research Centre, Intersim or Moot Courts in our School of Law.
Take a tour of our modern student accommodation, the most affordable, purpose-built student accommodation in Belfast, and all in easy walking distance of campus.
We have a range of city centre locations and room types, as well as accommodation on the Malone Road near campus, which offer in-house gyms, free off-peak Queen's Sport membership, high speed wifi, fees that are all-inclusive of utility bills and frequent day trips and social events.
ONE ELMWOOD
One Elmwood is our new state-of-the-art building bringing together student services with the Students' Union and a range of facilities so students can access services, collaborate in shared spaces, get support and socialise in first-class venues. The Students Union is home to over 200 clubs and societies and hosts many events such as comedy nights and the ever popular Q-con.
One ElmwoodOur team of students will be on-hand to offer you advice and support on everything from funding your studies to finding the perfect student accommodation.
Use this as an opportunity to find out what it's like to be a student at Queen's, what it's like to study the course you're interested in, how these students adapted to life away from home, placement opportunities and how you can make the most of your time in Belfast.
During open days, we host subject talks which are not only your chance to find out more about the course you're interested in, but also chat to your potential lecturers about how a course is taught, what the course entails and more.
You can also take the opportunity to talk with staff from Finance, Admissions, Queen's Sport, Student Wellbeing, Language Centre and Queen's Accommodation who will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Queen's Quarter, named after the university, is the southernmost quarter in Belfast and as a student you'll be spending a lot of your time in and around this area.
Not only is this quarter home to our university, you'll find coffee shops, restaurants, the Ulster Museum, Queen's Film Theatre, all to name but a few.
If you're not familiar with the city of Belfast, take time after your open day to explore all the city has to offer. Only a 15 minute walk from campus, there's plenty to see and do.
