Since 2004 ECIT has created a safer and faster digital space with great minds addressing major challenges in digital security and intelligence.
Momentum One Zero will build on ECIT’s outstanding track record of partnering with industry through its internationally renowned UK national Innovation & Knowledge Centre for cyber security, the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT).
It will also house experts in wireless communication, data science and scalable computing, addressing challenges relevant to big data.
It signifies a transformational step in enabling research and innovation capability to drive growth.
In 2023 Momentum One Zero was awarded over £100,000 funding to six pilot projects focused on health and agri-food research activity in partnership with industry, community and charities.
Made available through M1.0’s pump-priming fund and the UK Research and Innovation Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA), the funding is supporting researchers to work collaboratively to solve problems, adding add value to partners and Northern Ireland's digital economy.
Projects funded included those focussed on personalised medicine, water quality monitoring, farm sustainability and ear biting in pigs as well as citizen science and supporting people diagnosed with dementia.
Find out how impact-focussed research and innovation projects are having a positive impact locally and globally. Momentum One Zero will build on these successes.
Researchers at Queen’s have designed and implemented a resilient and agile wireless communications system that provides seamless connectivity to relief authorities when telecoms infrastructure is significantly impaired.
The Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) is a national cybersecurity research institute based at Queen’s emphasising research excellence combined with a unique model for, and focus on, commercialisation and innovation.
Research into software for accelerating signal and data processing solutions has resulted in the development of state-of the-art data analytics software that leverages connected technology to deliver better insights and outcomes for users.
