Queen’s graduate Bill Hagen was piloting a jet from London to Nairobi just after Christmas in 2000 when a passenger stormed the cockpit and attempted to hijack the plane.

During a two-minute struggle, the plane plunged 10,000 feet and was seconds away from losing control and crashing. Bill and his team managed to overcome the intruder and regain control of the plane.

The Queen’s Graduate of the Year was awarded a medal for bravery by the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR) People of the Year awards.

The terrifying incident was captured in a recent Channel 5 documentary ‘Terror at 30,000 feet’.

Bill is speaking about the dramatic and life threatening experience and all graduates are welcome to attend. If you would like to attend this event please send an email to the QUAS President, Fred Guy via the details below.
