"The Pathway bursary has helped me so much during my three years at Queen's; I wouldn't have received as good results as I have so far, because buying textbooks and course materials is really expensive."
It also takes so much stress off a student coming to university through giving them the ability to go out and make friends without having to worry about the cost.
Studying Law wasn’t always my ambition, but discovering the Pathway programme at Queen’s changed everything for me. Getting involved in the programme allowed me to explore Law in-depth, and I quickly fell in love with the subject. Now, I’m thrilled that I made this choice.
Queen’s has always been on my radar; both of my brothers attended, and I’ve heard nothing but positive experiences from them. Plus, it’s close to home, which was a big factor for me.
The Pathway bursary has been a tremendous support throughout my studies. Coming from Tyrone, I travel home every weekend, and balancing work with my studies can be challenging. The bursary alleviated the financial pressure, allowing me to focus on my academics instead of working every weekend. It has also helped me cover the costs of essential textbooks, which can be very expensive.
I managed to save some of the bursary funds for tutoring to help me prepare for my IPLS exam, which comes with its own hefty costs, including tutor fees, so the support has been invaluable.
The Pathway bursary means a great deal to me. It has significantly reduced my financial stress, allowing me to cover everyday expenses like bus fares to university. I used to commute twice a week, and those costs add up quickly. Thanks to the bursary, I can concentrate more on my studies, which demand a lot of reading and independent work.
It's just honestly taken so much stress of working and being able to actually focus on my studies as well because I have a lot of reading to do all the time and a lot of independent study.
Looking ahead, my next big step is the IPLS exam. I’ve just finished my tutoring sessions and am focused on securing a training contract, which is also quite costly. Having access to the bursary has made this possible for me.
To anyone considering donating to the Pathway bursary fund, I want to emphasise how much of a difference it makes. It takes away a considerable amount of stress for students like me, allowing us to enjoy university life and make friends without the constant worry of finances.
I am deeply grateful to those who have donated to the Pathway bursary fund. Your support has been pivotal throughout my three years at Queen’s. I genuinely believe that I wouldn’t have achieved the results I have without the financial assistance.
