Our PhD projects go beyond theory, diving into groundbreaking research that makes a real-world impact.
As a PhD student, you will pursue specialised, ground-breaking investigations, supported by your supervisor. You will have access to local government, schools and hospitals that can facilitate your work and will benefit from the results of your research. Our fully-funded studentships cover a wide range of areas of psychology, including mental health, political psychology, personality, and neurological disorders.

It means that you won’t pay any fees, you’ll receive a generous tax-free stipend to cover your living expenses and have further funding opportunities for research-related travel.
Eligibility criteria apply: The available funding is open to UK and ROI nationals, and to EU nationals with settled status in the UK, subject to meeting specific nationality and residency criteria. Full details on eligibility are given here.

We have a diverse range of PhD projects available in areas like:
- Development and Cognition
- Health, Welfare and Clinical Psychology
- Perception and Action
- Social Psychology.
You’ll be part of a cohesive community of 50+ PhD students who run a peer-mentoring program and a series of annual events, including a conference with renowned speakers. Our students actively participate in seminar programs and research group meetings, fostering a dynamic research culture. During your time as a PhD student you will have opportunities to undertake specialised training and to travel to national and international conferences.
