Overview

Studentship between QUB and Trinity College Dublin ( TCD) to investigate the application of nanoparticles to produce novel anti-cancer vaccines

This 3-year project brings together oncology and nanoformulation expertise at Queen’s University Belfast and

immunology expertise at Trinity College Dublin in a joint project to develop next generation cancer vaccines. This

project is one of 10 studentships across the island of Ireland funded by the HEA’s All-Ireland Cancer Research

Institute. The successful student will undertake their studies at both QUB (Patrick G Johnston Centre of Cancer

Research) and Trinity College Dublin (TCD) (School of Biochemistry and Immunology). Students will gain

multidisciplinary experience in nanoparticle development, pharmaceutical formulation, cell biology, immune

responses in vitro and in vivo.

Funding Information

For UK and ROI domiciled students the value of an award includes the cost of approved tuition fees and maintenance support (Fees £4,596, Stipend TBC).

Further Funding Eligibility: EU applicants with pre-settled/settled status may be eligible for funding.

Candidates applying from countries where the first language is not English should produce evidence of their competence through a qualification such as IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT, or alternative qualification acceptable to the University.

The minimum recommended score for the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Science is:

· IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with not less than 5.5 in each of the four component elements of listening, reading, speaking and writing taken within 2 years of the expected start date of the course;

· TOEFL score of 90+ (internet based test), taken within the last 2 years, with minimum component scores of; Listening 20, Reading 19, Speaking 21, Writing 20);

· A valid Certificate of Proficiency in English, or Certificate of Advanced English with an overall score of 176, and not less than 169 in each test component;

· A first or upper second class honours degree from a university based in the UK, Republic of Ireland or other suitably quality assured location in a country deemed by UK Visas and Immigration to be majority English speaking. The degree must have been completed within five years of the expected start date of the course.
