About our Speaker
John Murphy is President and Chief Financial Officer of The Coca-Cola Company. He oversees Global Ventures; Platform Services; digital transformation; Customer and Commercial Leadership; Bottling Investments Group; and Finance and Strategy. Murphy is also responsible for representing the company with multiple stakeholders, including investors, lenders and rating agencies.
Murphy was named CFO in 2019 and president in 2022. From 2016 to 2018, he served as president of the company’s Asia Pacific group. He was responsible for operations in the group’s five business units. He was also responsible for the company’s Bottling Investments Group, primarily focused on key markets in Southeast and Southwest Asia.
Murphy served as president of the South Latin business unit from 2013 to 2016, where he was responsible for operations in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Prior to that, he was president of the Latin Center business unit from 2008 to 2012, where he was responsible for operations in 31 countries in Central America, the Caribbean and the Andean Region. Murphy began his career with Coca-Cola in 1988 and went on to hold a variety of general management, finance and strategic planning roles around the world, including vice president of business systems in Coca-Cola North America in 2000, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Coca-Cola Japan in 2000, deputy president of Coca-Cola Japan in 2004 and vice president of strategic planning for Coca-Cola from 2005 to 2008.
Before joining Coca-Cola, Murphy worked for four years as an auditor for Price Waterhouse in Dublin, Ireland.
Murphy is a member of the boards of Coca-Cola FEMSA, The Coca-Cola Foundation and Engage. He is on the board of trustees of the Woodruff Arts Center and co-chairs, with his wife Talia, the University of Georgia’s Parents Leadership Council.
Murphy earned a bachelor's degree in business studies from Trinity College in Dublin and a diploma in professional accounting from University College in Dublin. He qualified as a chartered accountant of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants.
About Declan Kelly
Declan Kelly is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Consello and has over three decades of experience as a business advisor, leader and entrepreneur. Before Consello, Declan co-founded and was the Chairman and CEO of Teneo. Under Declan’s leadership, Teneo grew from a small start-up into a globally renowned advisory business, with over 30 offices around the world.
Beginning in 2009, Declan worked in The Obama Administration as the U.S. Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland, appointed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In this role he is recognized as having helped bring significant investment to the region and played a significant role in supporting the efforts that led to the historic devolution of policing and justice powers to the Northern Ireland Assembly, giving Northern Ireland fully devolved governance for the first time in its modern history.
Before his role in government, Declan held various senior executive positions at a number of international consulting firms including FTI Consulting and Financial Dynamics. Prior to that, he was as an award-winning journalist.
Declan has served on various nonprofit boards and has helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for many important causes over the last two decades. Declan has been recognized on several occasions for his philanthropic and nonprofit work and his public service. In 2008, he was the youngest recipient of the American Irish Historical Society’s Gold Medal, presented to someone who has contributed uniquely to Irish American society. He was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2012 for his distinguished contributions to society in the United States. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He was awarded an Honorary Degree from Queen’s University, Belfast in recognition of his contribution to the community and economy of Northern Ireland, and holds an Honorary Professorship of Queen’s Business School. He also created the Northern Ireland Mentorship Program, which has enabled over 100 students to date the opportunity to spend one year working for leading U.S. companies before they return to begin their careers in Northern Ireland.
