Civic Mission Launch

CIVIC MISSION LAUNCH

On 6th June 2024 we marked an important milestone, as the University launched its civic mission by pledging to become a Civic University and University of Sanctuary.

Through informative and uplifting keynote addresses, and a panel discussion from representatives across the voluntary, community and education sectors, we celebrated and demonstrated how inclusive partnerships can work towards lasting change.

During the event representatives signed the University of Sanctuary pledge, making a commitment to supporting our migrant, refugee and asylum seeker communities.

Queen’s has always played a pivotal role in the social, cultural and economic backdrop of Northern Ireland.
Over the years we have produced a skilled workforce of graduates in many disciplines, worked with external partners to address shared challenges locally and internationally, and been a place for open debate and dialogue.
The signing of today’s pledges to become both a Civic University, and University of Sanctuary, will see us build on these strong foundations. Professor Sir Ian Greer
