VIDEO: Come with me to the King's Coronation!
I'm a Learning Disabilities Nurse at Queen's and my online videos encouraging everyone to learn Makaton got me an invite to the King's Coronation. Take a look at the highlights in my vlog!
Who are you and why were you at the Coronation!?
I'm a second year Learning Disability Nursing student at Queen's. I was very privileged and honoured to be invited to the King's Coronation. I still can't believe it happened. I was invited because of my social media platforms. I have a social media channel called @makatonmondays and on that channel I try to encourage everyone to learn Makaton to try and make healthcare more accessible to everyone.
What's Makaton?
Makaton is a communication aid. It uses signs, symbols and speech and it is used for those who have a learning disability or a communication difficulty. I just wanted to make the world more accessible for everybody so I went online and made funny videos and that landed me at the King's Coronation.
Did you have an amazing time?
It was the most incredible time and the whole time I was like 'pinch me' because I thought I was dreaming. I could not believe I was invited so I thought I'd do a little video to let you follow me.
And if you want to follow me on my social media channels to learn more Makton that would be great, it's @makatonmondays everywhere. Enjoy watching!
