The digital economy, driven by large digital platforms, has brought significant benefits but also poses new risks. The EU’s response, particularly through the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, aims to address these challenges by focusing on competition and online content regulation. This event delved into these regulatory practices and their national implications, with a special focus on Ireland’s role as a key regulator.
Dr. John Dooley is a seasoned public policy advisor with extensive experience in enterprise and economic policy, regulation, and governance at national, EU, OECD, and international levels. He has held senior leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, including at the Department of Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy. Dr. Dooley led the successful Irish negotiations on the EU Digital Services and Digital Markets Acts and has a distinguished career in research, development, and technical management at multinational companies. His expertise and contributions to digital platform regulation make him a leading voice in this critical area.
