16+ Education Equality Campaign

Since 2023 Morgan Mattingly, a MSCA Doctoral Fellow at Queen's University, has partnered with ANAKA Women’s Collective to support and advocate for equitable access to education for young people (16-24) from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.

Mattingly works with ANAKA’s education coordinators, Areeg Fareh and Saher Idris, to support young people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds who have no or limited access to education in Northern Ireland.

Through participatory action research (PAR), Mattingly engages with young people to use research to find solutions to education needs and advocate for change with the 16+ Education Equality campaign. The campaign also acts as a vital community space, encouraging young people to come together for a variety of activities that empower and strengthen integration in Northern Ireland.
