In a landmark initiative set to redefine the landscape of trauma in Northern Ireland, peace and reconciliation charity Corrymeela, in partnership with the Starling Collective, asylum-seeking-and-refugee-led Belfast-based charity, organised a transformative three-day series of events, called Transforming trauma: A Community Approach to Healing, taking place at Stormont Parliament Buildings (10 April 2024), The MAC (11 April) and Queen’s University (12 April).
The closing event at Queen's University Belfast - facilitated by Queen's Public Engagement Office - aimed at an afternoon of exploration and discussion to disseminate the project findings and how an international model is applying scientific and evidence-based trauma informed model of healing throughout different conflict zones worldwide.
Queen's University had previously hosted two trauma informed mental health workshops for Refugees and Asylum Seekers organised by Starling Collective and Corrymeela, in October and November 2023.
