Webinar - 'Communicating bodies of evidence: what works?'

Date: Tuesday 01 March 2022 Time: 12:30-13:45pm UK time

Evidence rarely speaks for itself. Proactive communication and other strategies are usually needed to mobilise bodies of knowledge. But what are the best strategies and techniques to do this? This event will seek to share practical insights from the social sciences and policymaking about communicating and implementing bodies of research - such as systematic reviews and other syntheses.

The speakers are:

Trish Greenhalgh, Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford

Sarah Miller, Director, Campbell UK and Ireland; Professor of Education, Queen’s University Belfast

Kathryn Oliver, Co-Director, Transforming Evidence; former ESRC/GO-Science Areas of Research Interest Fellow

Jennifer Stuttle, Head of Profession for Evaluation and Government Social Research, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, UK Government

The 75 minute lunchtime Zoom event is chaired by Jonathan Breckon, Visiting Fellow, Campbell UK & Ireland. Campbell UK & Ireland is a national centre of the Campbell Collaboration, an international social science research network that produces high quality, open and policy-relevant evidence syntheses, plain language summaries and policy briefs. The meeting is aimed at researchers, commissioners, and communicators of research synthesis in the UK and internationally. It is the first in a series that seeks to develop our understanding of what we can learn from the social and behavioral sciences about the best ways to communicate and apply research synthesis.
