Exploring Sonic Qualities of Text
Exploring Sonic Qualities of Text
This creative workshop, organised by Kayla Rush and Maruška Svašek on 28 November 2024 at Dundalk Institute of Technology, was a collaboration between:
- Centre of Creative Ethnography, Queen’s University Belfast, UK
- Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland
At the workshop, postgraduate students in anthropology explored the sonic qualities of text and experimented with musical instruments with the aim to improve their writing and performance skills. Each participant brought two sentences, taken from ethnographies, lyrics, poems, and their own writing. Led by Kayla Rush and assisted by Jonathan Duggan and Daithí Kearney, the collaborators freely experimented with words and vocalisation, and improvised playing several musical instruments.
