E-PHROG
E-PHROG, or the Evidence and Public Health Research in Ophthalmology Group, is a consortium of ophthalmic researchers at CPH whose work is principally aimed to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of people with eye diseases, both in the UK and in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Specific interests include evidence synthesis, trials evaluating treatments, diagnostic technologies and models of eye care, screening and grading for eye diseases, school eye health, and eye care as a tool to accelerate progress towards achieving the SDGs. Members of the E-PHROG group, separately and in collaboration, have received over £6m in funding from the NIHR, MRC and the Wellcome Trust in the last 3 years.
E-PHROG has an active teaching and training portfolio with a wide range of eye-health related topics covered in undergraduate and postgraduate education, such as QUB’s Master of Public Health/Global Health course. PhD studies both in quantitative and qualitative topics are covered by the group’s expertise.
The Cochrane Eyes and Vision Group now operates from QUB and is a very valuable member of E-PHROG.
