Stephen McIlwaine is a Senior Lecturer at Queen’s and is Director of the MSc Programme in Construction & Project Management. His pre-Queen’s career focused on managing the environmental and social consequences of large infrastructure development projects, mostly in the developing world and often in the context of projects seeking development finance. His teaching focuses on how to address ‘sustainability’ concerns in the planning and management of construction projects, not least in low carbon construction, circular economy, stakeholder engagement and social value. He is currently running research projects on reducing carbon in the construction materials supply chain and in the circularity of plastics use.
