The Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research (PGJCCR) Summer Research Programme is an exciting opportunity designed for ambitious and talented young students eager to dive into a dynamic eight-week research project during the summer.
Picture yourself as part of this transformative experience, from June 10 to August 2, 2024, where you'll receive a stipend of £200 per week. Immerse yourself in a comprehensive laboratory-based project, creating a concise report and a captivating poster presentation.

Summer Research Programme 2023 Poster Presentation Winner Pruistinne Newton Harijanto described her experience as: ‘really insightful because in our undergrad studies, we tend to learn about research but we don't really know what goes on behind the scenes and why a certain method is being implemented. Being in the Summer Research Programme, I was able to enquire the experts directly.’
Dr Stephanie Craig, a Summer Research Programme student mentor said, ‘[the programme] provides a unique opportunity for [students] to learn both the soft and scientific skills needed to drive cancer research forward whilst making a value contribution to the research programmes within the centre.

The application period for the PGJCCR Summer Research Programme 2024 is now closed.
We welcome applications from undergraduate students in Year 1 and Year 2 applying from the UK, Republic of Ireland (RoI) and EU courses with a right to study in UK. Year 3 students on a 4-year degree course may also apply.
