Centre for Justice Studies
The Centre for Justice Studies (CJS) is the research hub for research on justice research within SSESW, where justice is understood broadly to include not just criminal justice but also social justice, gender justice, racial justice, environmental justice and far more.
Research within the CJS seeks to better understand social harms (from vandalism to genocide) as well as the responses of state and non-state actors to these harms
The CJS seeks to achieve the following:
* to encourage and support world-leading research on justice related topics
* to facilitate linkages between researchers and justice agencies, reform and abolition groups, and other justice system stakeholders in Northern Ireland, Ireland and the United Kingdom
* to be an outward facing centre for international excellence in justice research in Northern Ireland
* to create a vibrant culture of criminological ideas through seminars, workshops, public lectures and hosting of academic conferences
* to partner with the Institute of Criminology & Criminal Justice in the School of Law at QUB and co-sponsor events
