QUB Human Rights Centre Responds to MoJ Consultation on Human Rights Act Reform
The Human Rights Centre of the School of Law at Queen’s University Belfast has submitted a detailed response to the UK Ministry of Justice’s consultation on whether and (if so) how the Human Rights Act should be reformed. Further details about the Government’s proposals are available here: https://consult.justice.gov.uk/human-rights/human-rights-act-reform/.
In its response, the Human Rights Centre provides general comments on the Government’s consultation document together with specific responses to each of the 29 questions within it. The Centre repudiates most of the Government’s proposals for want of adequate justification and on account of the risks they pose in respect of the Northern Ireland peace settlement.
