Why is this study being done?

1. To establish global surveillance of cancer survival, with a view to further progress in:

• Identifying large numbers of avoidable premature deaths due to inequalities in cancer survival.
• Prompting countries to improve their health systems.
• Evaluate progress to World Cancer Declaration goal of major increase in survival by 2020.
