Braimah Kanneh-Mason (violin) and Thomas Fetherstonhaugh (piano) represent the rising generation of top young artists now making waves in London and beyond. Both Braimah and Thomas are still graduate students at the Royal Academy of Music as they come to us; they were important contributors to the recent BBC2 documentary ‘Black Classical Music: The Forgotten History’ that brought to light cases of important but neglected black musicians through European music history; these included George Bridgewater, the violinist who premiered Beethoven’s (so called) ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata, from which these artists played a part during the documentary.

Braimah Kanneh-Mason is already well known as solo violinist and chamber musician. Coming from a musical family, Braimah enjoys regular performances across the country as a soloist and chamber musician. A member of the Kanneh-Mason Piano Trio and the Cassadó ensemble, he has enjoyed performances most recently in the Wigmore Hall, Highgate International Chamber Music Festival, and Perth Concert Hall.

Described as ‘a spark to watch’ by BBC Radio 3, Thomas Fetherstonhaugh has already undertaken a busy career as conductor, organist and choral musician. The Fantasia Orchestra, founded by Thomas, is a regular fixture in the concert life of the Capital; during the emergence from Lockdown in Sept 2020, the FO performed Elgar’s Cello Concerto with Braimah’s brother Sheku, another close collaborator of Thomas. Recent projects for Thomas include a concert for peace in the Korean Demilitarised Zone, the development of Piers Hellawell’s new piano concerto Rapprochement with players from the Ulster Orchestra and assisting Sir Mark Elder at the Royal Academy of Music.
