Irish piano music in its historic context has been largely ignored and, for the last 100 years, it has been widely accepted that Ireland possesses little piano music of note. This lecture recital aims to trace a neglected legacy from the late eighteenth century through to the early twentieth century with composers such as John Field, Francis Panormo. Ignaz Moscheles, Fanny Robinson, Hope Temple, Victor Herbert, Michele Esposito, Hamilton Harty, George Alexander Osborne and William Vincent Wallace and argues that this treasure trove should not be forgotten.
