Audio Recording and Post Production Surround Studios
Studios at SARC include multi-channel and stereo facilities with high quality monitoring loudspeakers. The studios are used for a wide variety of applications including the recording of pop and classical music, electronic music production, Dolby Atmos spatialisation, VR audio, sound design and post production for screen, and mixing for radio and television broadcast.
Surround 1 is equipped with an AVID S6 M10 console with MTRX, Dolby ATMOS HE-RMU and Genelec 9.1.4 monitoring. Surround 1 is equipped with an Avid ProTools HD system with a wide range of plug-ins, and an Apple workstation running a wide range of audio software applications.
It is also possible to connect to this studio via the building's Dante network.

Designed and installed by ARUP Acoustics, Surround Studio 1 has been designed in accordance with ITU recommendations (ITU-R BS 1116) to double as a critical listening room.
Surround 2 features 8.1 channels of Genelec monitoring and Motu 828 MKIII audio interface. The studio is equipped with an Avid ProTools HD system with a wide range of plug-ins, and an Apple workstation running a wide range of other audio software applications.

Studios 1, 2 and 3 are stereo studios and are used for individual composition / sound design work. Each studio includes an Avid ProTools system, and an Apple workstation running a wide range of audio software applications and plugins.

The Interaction Lab is a multi use space that is used primarily by students and staff for installations, experimentation and cross-disciplinary research. The room is equipped with motion capture cameras, AV projection, a Behringer x32 digital desk, portable lighting, and 8 Adam loudspeakers.
A permanent dance floor is installed inside this space.
Directly adjacent to the Sonic Lab is a control room allowing the Lab to be used as a recording studio. The two rooms are linked by 48 microphone lines and a vision panel. The control room features an AMS-Neve DMC Digital Mixing Console, 5.1 PMC monitoring, an Avid ProTools HDX system with a wide range of plug-ins, and a TC Electronic System 6000 effects / mastering unit.
