SARC PhD researcher Helena Hamilton will present a new iteration of her sound sculpture in Berlin
SARC PhD researcher Helena Hamilton will be presenting a new iteration of her sound sculpture, featuring multiple fluorescent lights, at the Musikbrauerei bunkers in Berlin as part of Digital in Berlin this weekend (4 & 5 October 2024)
Unlike the original version, this iteration is non-interactive. Instead, the sound in this piece is composed from various samples of the lights that Helena has collected over the past decade. These include live recordings of her engaging with the original interactive sculpture at different sites, as well as test samples captured during the development of the original interactive program using a range of microphones, audio processes, and physical interactions. The materials in this work are purposely simple, utilising sound and light to quietly intertwine with each other and encompass the physical site.
