Dr Zeynep Bulut read a section from her forthcoming book, Building a Voice: Sound, Surface, Skin
Dr Zeynep Bulut read a short section from her forthcoming book, Building a Voice: Sound, Surface, Skin, in the workshop, Voice and Environment. The workshop took place at the ICI Berlin Institute for Cultural Inquiry, where Dr Zeynep Bulut pursued her postdoctoral research between 2011-2013.
Co-convened by Dr Zeynep Bulut (QUB) and Assoc. Prof. J. Martin Daughtry (NYU), Voice and Environment explored physical, cultural, sonic, and social interactions between voice and environment, as well as issues relating to atmosphere, climate change, precarious vocality, and varied physical and cultural dynamics of breath and breathlessness. The workshop included panels, and an intermedial performance, followed by a discussion.
An ICI Event, Voice and Environment was supported by the Department of Music and Sonic Arts Research Centre, School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen's University Belfast and the Department of Music, Faculty of Arts and Science at New York University.
