Craig Jackson Shortlisted for Queen's Staff Excellence Awards
A message of congratulations to our technical manager Craig Jackson, who was shortlisted for the Queen’s Staff Excellence Awards Outstanding Leadership!
The nomination was based on Craig’s exceptional work throughout 2023-24 at SARC, a time of celebration of the centre’s 20th anniversary and implementation of much innovation and investment in equipment and infrastructure. Craig has delivered excellence and leadership in the context of the design and procurement of a £1.2m Higher Education Research Capital grant awarded by the Department for Economy. The grant allowed for a range of equipment to support creative practice and technical research at SARC. The equipment aims to both support existing research strands in increasing quantity and quality of specialised audio visual equipment and to open up new areas of interdisciplinary research. In addition, Craig has been a core member of the design team for SARC building refurbishment (funded at £1.5m by AHSS and currently underway). Craig's work has and will continue to make an extremely positive impact at SARC and across the University. This is rooted in a deep understanding of current and future research needs but also incredible empathy and understanding towards researchers.
During this exceptionally busy period, and consistently during his career, Craig has demonstrated excellent leadership skills, being part of AEL leadership as well as managing a diverse team of technicians in a range of disciplines within AEL including Broadcast, Drama, Film and of course Music. He continues to innovate within SARC ensuring the building is future proofed to meet everchanging technical advancements, and ensuring staff, researchers and students have the necessary tools and equipment to support their education and research in the future.
A huge thank you to Craig for his commitment and dedication and great to see this recognised through the Staff Excellence Awards!
