British Council Venice Fellowships Programme
SARC is a partner in the prestigious British Council Venice Fellowships Programme which provides a unique opportunity for creative individuals, students, researchers, artists and professionals at the early stages of their career, to spend a month in Venice during the world’s most important art and architecture biennales.
The partnership provides SARC early career researches (PhD and staff) with the opportunity to join a group of fellows and develop a project as well as contribute to public engagement associated with the British Pavilion commissioned work in any given year.
The Venice Biennale (LaBiennale di Venezia) is an international cultural exhibition hosted annually in Venice, Italy by the Biennale Foundation. The biennale has been organised every year since1895, which makes it the oldest of its kind.
For the 2024 biennale, the British Council have commissioned the artist and filmmaker John Akomfrah RA to represent Great Britain at the 60th International Art Exhibition. The SARC fellow will bring a sound and music focus to an engagement with Akomfrah’s work and collaboration with fellows representing other key art institutions and schools in the UK.
