The Democracy Unit is also a major player on the international conference stage. We prioritise hosting at QUB major international academic conferences which focus on various aspects of democracy.

Members of the Democracy Unit hosted the major international political science conference in the summer of 2019 – the European Political Science Association (EPSA). Professor John Garry was the lead QUB organiser and was head of the Elections and Public Opinion track of the conference. Dr Jon Kuyper was head of the International Relations track, and other Democracy Unit participants included Chris Raymond.

Members of the Democracy Unit also hosted at QUB the major international conference on policy development and implementation: The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA). Dr Muiris MacCarthaigh was the lead organiser, and was assisted by Professor John Coakley.
