The Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine launched its first Learn@Lunch event on 23rd June 2022. The event was restricted to 20 visitors from QUB and the free tickets sold out on Eventbrite. Participants were welcomed by members of the outreach committee in the WWIEM foyer and were then taken to a boardroom for presentations the ongoing research in the areas of oral health (Fionnuala Lundy’s group) and on the importance of B cell function for antigen recognition (Dessi Malinova). A lunch sponsored by Sarstedt was then provided, during which Adrien Kissenpfennig gave a short overview of the Institute’s activities. Two further Learn@Lunch events were held on 27^th Oct 2022 and 18^th May 2023. The Learn@Lunch format was modified for these events. Jose Bengoechea presented an overview of the research in the institute and on the origins of the institute. This was followed by a tour of the building and a lunch sponsored by Sarstedt. The feedback from the Learn@Lunch events has been very positive. Similar events will be run once every quarter and announced at Staff Round Up.
