Nuffield Research Placements
Nuffield Research Placements are supported by the Nuffield Foundation and powered by STEM Learning. They are engaging, hands-on research projects, where Y13 students can make a real and meaningful contribution towards the work of a host organisation. They are a fantastic opportunity for students to apply skills and knowledge learned at school and work alongside researchers and industry professionals to learn more about higher education and different career paths.
Last year, WWIEM hosted 3 Nuffield students; two in Professor Judy Bradley’s lab, and one in Professor David Simpson’s lab.
The students come to WWIEM for two weeks in the summer during July/August, and work to answer a research question. At the end of the placement, students write a report and make a poster from their own data.
