GIS and Geomatics
Centre for Geographic Information Science and Geomatics is a research centre within the School of the Natural and Built Environment at Queen's University Belfast. The centre supports research across the Geography discipline and more widely, promoting research, teaching and outreach in the fields of spatial science, geomatics/geodetics, geostatistical analysis, geo-programming and digital mapping, and hosts a diverse array of spatial data resources via web-based mapping portals. This multidisciplinary approach means that our staff and members have expertise in mapping, geodata engineering, geomatic research, GIS customised training and teaching, scientific survey and GI data analytics and modelling.
Interactive mapping tools have been developed in support of ongoing ESRC projects that are addressing population change and inequalities in the UK (the PopChange Project) and South Africa, and the AHRC Living Legacies and Leverhulme Trust Mapping Lineages and the geography of health and soil geochemistry projects.
