We provide an intellectually stimulating and supportive research environment for our staff at all career-stages and recognise the primacy of staff development for promoting research.
We are committed to supporting early-career researchers (including postdoctoral researchers) alongside established staff. Probationary and ECR lecturers are allocated a senior mentor to advise on career development and have full access to training courses.
We have also set up new mentoring initiatives for post-doctoral researchers and our staff have also played a leading role in the development of a Faculty-led Mentoring Programme for contract researchers.

The Graduate School provides an exclusive postgraduate hub that values the needs of our postgraduate students. Based in the beautifully restored and remodelled Victorian Lynn library, this fully-accessible space has modern, hi-tech meeting and group study rooms, a silent study area and social spaces creating a vibrant hub for intellectual exchange and collaboration.
The School has a range of state-of-the-art facilities to support our leading-edge research and teaching across all of our disciplines. Research is also supported by the outstanding resources of the award-winning McClay Library with its extensive subject-specific journals and databases.
