Recently, first year students studying Civil Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering and Structural Engineering with Architecture at Queen’s had the opportunity to take part in a live online interactive sketching skills workshop with internationally recognised construction illustrator Trevor Flynn from Drawing At Work.

Delivered by Trevor, from his offices in London to our teaching studio in Belfast, this sketching workshop was developed by Trevor Flynn and Dr Tony Martin from Queen’s University to encourage undergraduate engineering students to communicate their design ideas through sketching and drawing. In this way, QUB graduates will be better communicators and more innovative future designers. Students in the workshop also had an opportunity to ask Trevor questions and to take part in discussions whilst working on a series of interesting drawing challenges, similar to those encountered in 'real life' construction projects.
