Welcome Day 2024
This webpage has all the key information you will need to make a successful start to your undergraduate programme. Don’t worry too much about anything else – other key information will be given out on the Welcome Day, and throughout your first week at QUB.

What do I need to do before I come?
- Please read your University Welcome Pack very carefully and complete all required tasks, particularly the Enrolment and Registration. You can also check MyQueens for more info.
- Log into Canvas and Outlook using your University log-in details. You should also install the apps on your mobile phone. Your personal email will no longer be used to communicate with you past this point.
- You should order your practical equipment:
- a laboratory coat is required by all students except Environmental Management.
- a dissection kit is required by all students on Biological Sciences, Marine Biology and Zoology, as well as Microbiology students planning to study the module BIO1305 Biodiversity. Environmental Management, Food and Biochemistry do not require a dissection kit.
- Please retain your email receipt as proof of purchase. You will need this to be able to collect it.
- Where do I go?
The Welcome Day will take place in the School of Biological Sciences, 19 Chlorine Gardens, Belfast, BT9 5DL.
This is just a short 5-10min walk from the main QUB campus (Lanyon Building).

Teaching Lab 12.00 Campus Tour & Lunch
Staff and Peer Mentors will take you on a short campus tour to show you where your classes will be, along with other key points of interest. A packed lunch will be provided.13.00 Getting to Know Each Other
Take part in a fun quiz with other members of your programme so you can get to know each other!Teaching Lab 14.00 Lab Coat & Dissection Kit Collection
Collect your lab coat and dissection kit that you have pre-ordered. Remember to check if you need one or not. You are advised to come on this day to collect your equipment but if you cannot, there will be additional collection times in the School building made available on Friday 13th (10:00am to 1:00pm, from collection area) Tuesday 17th (9:00am to 5:00pm, from reception).Lower Ground Floor - Who should I look out for?

You will be introduced to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and receive Carbon Literacy Training accredited by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful - definitely one for the CV! A hot lunch will be provided (4pm finish).
