My research focuses on organic synthesis of chemically modified nucleotides, as well as DNA and RNA strands. These modified nucleic acids are then used for applications in medicinal chemistry or chemical biology. For example, I have worked on mononucleotides as enzyme inhibitors, as well as RNA modifications for use in mRNA vaccines. I am particularly interested in using synthetic oligonucleotides as probes to study cellular processes such as DNA damage repair and mRNA processing.
