Airwaves Portrush 31st August 2019 -1st September 2019
For the third year in a row, representatives of the school were part of the STEM exhibit at the Airwaves airshow in Portrush. Sporting an array of interactive demos– including a 4.5 bn year old meteorite, a set of trick dice and an infrared selfie-camera– maths mentors Karolina Bednarek, Emily Gribbin, Heather Leitch, Mark Aleksiejuk and Jamie Dodds joined Drs Andrew Brown and Krishna Prasad in wowing visitors with mathematical wizardry and mind-bending physics. The annual event routinely attracts more than 100,000 visitors, and despite the very Northern Irish weather, the 2019 event was extremely well attended. In fact, during the heavy downpours, people were remarkably keen to continue long discussions at the QUB M&P stall in the dry and warmth of the marquee.
