We are pleased to announce an Open Day of the Ewald Microscopy Facilities in the School of Mathematics and Physics, Main Physics Building, Queen’s University Belfast. This open day will be on Thursday 5 May 2022 from 11 am to 4 pm. If you would like to attend, please submit your expression on interest here. Registration closes at 4pm, 29 April.
We will be showcasing four of our microscopes:
- LYRA3 TESCAN Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) and Focused Ion beams (FIB), equipped with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) detector & Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBSD) detector.
- TALOS FEI Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
- Asylum MFP-3D Infinity Atomic Force Microscope (AFM)
- JEOL SEM with EDS and WDS detectors.
Over the years the Electron Microscopy Unit in QUB helped academic and non-academic users and will continue to enable both researchers and industry to perform advanced materials characterization at the micro and nanoscale, including:
- Chemical analysis and elemental distribution
- Structural analysis
- Milling and patterning
- Electrical and magnetic characterisation
- Mechanical characterisation
We are seeking to present the capabilities of these instruments and our advanced expertise to present and future users. Further details and a program will follow.
We very much look forward to meeting you and showcasing our facilities!
