- Location
- Larmor Lecture Theatre
- Time
- 19:00 - 20:30
As part of the International Astronomy Union (I.A.U) NameExoWorlds Project, we invite you to a fun and educational evening of science. Learn about planets orbiting around far away stars: exoplanets! And most importantly, help us to choose a pair of names for a star and an Exoplanet to propose to the I.A.U, which could potentially become the officially recognised names for a star and planet.
Event Summary:
The Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC) at Queen's University Belfast invites you to join us for N.A.M.E.S - Name A Marvellous Exoplanet System. An evening dedicated to all things exoplanets - the marvellous worlds which orbit around distant stars.
We want YOUR vote and input on choosing names for an Exoplanet system- for both the star and a planet which orbits around it. Northern Ireland has a vast knowledge and love of all things astronomical, and we want your help to choose great names for these two objects. Following a short talk from one of our exoplanet experts, we will be taking your votes on our short-listed candidate name pairings to propose to the I.A.U.. YOU could potentially have a part in creating the officially recognised names for two of these celestial bodies! (Refreshments will be provided)
