Athena SWAN Silver Award for the School of Mathematics and Physics Renewed
The School of Mathematics and Physics are delighted to announce the recent renewal of their Athena SWAN Silver Award until 2025.
Dr Miryam Arredondo-Arechavala and Dr Gabriele De Chiara, the Co-Chairs of the School's Gender Equality Committee announced:
"On behalf of the Gender Equality Committee, we have the pleasure to announce the recent renewal of the Athena SWAN Silver Award for the School of Mathematics and Physics until 2025".
"This is a fantastic achievement by the School: it recognises the successful work done in the last few years by the Gender Equality Committee and by all students and members of staff of the School. It is a token of the strong commitment made by the School over the years to the construction of a more equitable work environment and community, where everybody should and can have a voice and equal opportunities".
"We would like to thank all the people involved in the preparation of the proposal who have provided precious feedback, data, insight and ideas for actions to overcome challenging issues".
Professor Mauro Paternostro, the Head of School stated: "I think we should state our full gratitude to Miryam and Gabriele for leading the efforts of the School in this endeavour and working through the application process! I read through the documents prepared for the renewal process, and the quality of work put in them was outstanding".
"Let’s now look ahead of us and to the direction we should move, as a School, to address the many challenges that are still to be faced to build a better work environment, where everyone is valued and opportunities are open".
