PhD student, Mr Ethan Hawthorne (Mathematics - Research) has been awarded this year’s Dunville Scholarship.
It is a prestigious award established in 1873 and very competitive, every year only one award is allocated for postgraduate students within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. It is remarkable that this year the award is given to a postgraduate who pursues his research in Pure Mathematics, congratulations!
Mr Ethan Hawthorne:
'I am honoured and delighted to receive such a prestigious award from Queen's that not only recognises my motivation and enthusiasm for my PhD project, but also my hard work, determination and academic achievements at Queen's. The scholarship selection panel said they were very impressed with my PhD project (which is entitled 'preservers on operator systems') and my passion for my subject (pure mathematics), which was a great encouragement to hear. I know that this scholarship will have a significant impact on both my PhD studies and on my future career. '
