Current research project
Population Studies of Exotic Hot Subdwarfs
The project aims to understand evolution pathways for hot subluminous stars, using data from telescopes including SALT, TESS, GAIA, and LAMOST, as well as theoretical models for the interiors and atmospheres of these stars. I work on developing software tools for data analysis and applying these tools to existing data. Because these stars do not form a homogeneous group, I search the data for groups, patterns, systematic behaviour, and outliers. Making these tools robust enough to apply quickly to large amounts of data will be a significant challenge. The results will include measurements of over 200 evolved stars' properties, such as temperatures, radii, distances, and masses, as well as techniques for data analysis and interpretation.
Biography
I graduated from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi majoring in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science. I went on to complete my post-graduation in Physics with a specialisation in Astrophysics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. For my master's thesis, I worked at Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital studying the metallicity distribution of the open star clusters.
