Current research project

High-Field Quantum Electrodynamics in the Field of an Intense Laser

After the pioneering SLAC E144 experiment in 1996, recent experiments have been using advances in laser technology to study beyond the perturbative regime seen in E144 - particularly phenomena like non-linear inverse Compton scattering and non-linear Breit-Wheeler production. My work is focused on designing photon detectors that can cope with the high fluxes and high energies expected in strong-field QED experiments and can observe signatures of these non-linear interactions.

Biography

I graduated in 2020 from QUB with a MSci Applied Maths and Physics. My Master's project was also supervised by Prof. Sarri and was on a similar topic. I continued working on this and started my PhD in October 2021.
